How long does it last?

The Hair Straightening is permanent, the hair that is treated will never need to be treated again; however, your re-growth will be your natural hair texture, and if you wish to keep the smooth look you will need a touch up treatment approximately every 3-4 months.


Why do I need a consultation?

For the health & wellness of your hair we must first have a consultation to conduct a hair & scalp analysis and a strand test (not necessary for the Hydro Spa Keratin Treatment), so that we can determine the best treatment for you to give you the results you are after. We will give you a quote and explain the service to you.


What’s it the difference between relaxers (permanent hair straightening) and the Keratin Treatment?

The Keratin Smoothing Treatment straightens and smoothes the hair naturally without strong chemicals. It is a reconditioning treatment that transforms the hair and restores shine. It gradually wears out over 3-5 months. Relaxers and permanent straighteners work on breaking and rearranging the internal bonds of the hair. Once these processes have been done the hair is permanently altered, still, the new growth after the relaxing and permanent straightening will always be your natural texture.


When can I wash my hair after the straightening?

You will need to come to Figaro salon 3 days after the treatment and we will shampoo and style your hair for free.


What is the maintenance involved?

For the first four days you are required to follow the instructions outlined in your education material, after you will be able to wash and style your hair as normal. Your stylist will recommend compulsory products for you to keep your hair healthy, looking and feeling fabulous! Remember, after Keratin Smoothing Treatment you MUST use the recommended products, or your treatment will not last and is not guaranteed.


Do I need special products?

Yes. After your service your stylist will recommend the products to keep your hair healthy, looking and feeling fabulous.


Can I swim in a chlorine pool with my straightened hair?

After the initial week you can swim in any pool or ocean, however, your stylist will would recommend a conditioning treatment for your hair to protect it from the elements. If you have had the Keratin Smoothing Treatment salt water and chlorine can strip the keratin out of your hair quicker than normal water and will reduce the life span of the treatment. When swimming, try to cover your hair, and if you can't, please, wet your hair and apply conditioner generously to avoid stripping the keratin from your hair.


What if I change my mind, can I have the straightening reversed?

The Keratin Smoothing Treatment wears off gradually over approximately 3-5 months, and if you wish to speed up the process your stylist will be able to recommend products for you, such as shampoo with sodium chloride.


Can I tie my hair back after it has been relaxed or permanently straightened?

Not for at least the first 3 days, after you may tie it back as you wish.


Can I have my hair straightened if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

Not recommended.


Can I still colour my hair?

You will need to colour your hair before the Keratin Smoothing Treatment or wait two weeks after the treatment.
